Looks really beautiful, a bit larger than the original HMT Janata Hand Wound. You can see the movement through the glass back. Excellent quality case and leather strap. Thank you HMT for making such a good looking watch and offering it at such an affordable price. I love it.

Tough the Miyota 9015 is premium movement and price is also reasonable, but if somebody is buying this watch from both angles that in & out it must be HMT, then good to go for other HMT automatic (which I think inhouse 21 jewels movement having brand name HMT on it even from inside i.e. was earlier based upon citizen movement). Otherwise this Janta also looking classic & in such price Miyota 9015 is a good deal.

The watch is very elegant. It lets you share something with great leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. It is a watch by one of the only two state owned watch manufacturers.

What was excellent, however leather strap was poor quality, it would have been better if provided with a SS metal strap matching with its face

I have been collecting HMT watches (Pilot, Stellar, Sona) and now the Janata. The movement, fit and finish are excellent for the price. I like the dimensions of the watch though there is some talk of it being "big" - I find that subjective and must tell you its sits just fine on a medium sized wrist. The negative is that the seconds hand could have been a different color such as "red" or "blue/turquoise" - that would have made visibility that much better as it is difficult to make out the time in bright sunlight. Kudos to HMT. Now waiting for Pilot Automatic...Cheers!
